It's been a tough week so far for the 14th seed Ben Shelton. He takes on unseeded Denis Shapovalov in the third round and another tough match looks on the cards. In round four, the winner will face either unseeded Miomir Kecmanovic or the top seed Jannik Sinner.

Shelton is playing at Wimbledon for only the second time. He made his debut in this grass court Grand Slam last year but lost in round two. It looked like he might not get to this third round after a couple of tough matches.

Round one saw the American have to come from two sets to one down to beat qualifier Matteo Bellucci. More drama followed in the second round as again he had to go to a final set, this time against another qualifier Lloyd Harris and again he had to win the last two sets.

Shelton struggled in his three grass court warm-up tournaments, winning just one of his four matches. He remains 14th in the live rankings but he faces a tough match here against the more experienced Denis Shapovalov.

His Canadian opponent reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon three years ago. Last year saw him make it to the fourth round so grass is a surface that he appreciates. Shapovalov was down at 121st in the latest rankings and is 136th in the live list.

That's because he has so many points to defend from last year. He beat the 19th seed Nicolas Jarry in round one and followed that up with a five-set win over unseeded Daniel Altimaier. Shapovalov lost a 2-0 lead but won the final set to progress and we tip him to beat Shelton.
