Sebastian Baez is the second seed but with the bookies he's the favorite to win the Cordoba Open. He takes on unseeded Hugo Dellien for a place in the quarter finals of his clay court tournament. That's because he's defending the points earned when winning this title last year. The Argentinian made a slow start to the new year with both of his first two matches being lost. He then reached the last 32 at the Australian Open but then won only four games when being beaten by eventual champion Jannik Sinner. Baez returned to his favoured clay court surface when playing for Argentina in the Davis Cup against Kazakhstan and beating Dmitry Popko.

Hugo Dellien started this tournament ranked 112th but is down at 134th in the live list. He's dropped down the rankings due him losing the points he earned when being beaten by Baez in the semi-finals here last year. That was his second loss to Baez, both on clay courts. The Bolivian was as high as 64th in the world two years ago. Dellien only played one tournament this year before heading to Cordoba. He lost in the second qualifying round of the Australian Open. He finally got a win in 2024 when beating Thiago Seyboth Wild in three sets, losing the middle one. We tip Baez to win this match in straight sets.
