Match 56 of the 2024 Indian Premier League will see the Delhi Capitals taking on the Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday afternoon. The hosts are currently sixth in the league, while the visitors sit atop the standings. The Delhi Capitals enter this match following a disappointing performance, losing by seven wickets and 21 balls to the Kolkata Knight Riders last Monday. Kuldeep Yadav top scored with 35* and Rishabh Pant added 27, though the side were only able to post a total of 153/9. Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals have been excellent in this year’s edition of the IPL, and while they have already secured a playoff spot, they will be determined to end the group stage in pole position. The Royals are currently on 16 points after ten games, boasting a record of eight wins and just two losses. However, they do come into this match off the back of a defeat, having lost by a single run against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday afternoon. Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 77 and 67, respectively, while Avesh Khan took 2/39 in the defeat. Parag is now ranked fourth in the highest run-scorer standings, and Sanju Samson is ninth. Yuzvendra Chahal sits eighth in the race for the purple cap, four wickets behind leader Jasprit Bumrah. The Royals have been the dominant side in this contest in recent seasons, winning each of the last three encounters between these sides, including a 12-run victory earlier in this year’s tournament.
