Lorenzo Sonego faces off with fellow unseeded player David Goffin to start his 2025 Indian Wells campaign. The winner of their fourth meeting will play Alex de Minaur next. Below is our prediction for this match.

Goffin will compete at Indian Wells for the eighth time. The Belgian is a former semi-finalist here but lately hasn’t come close to that 2016 performance.

In his last two appearances he exited in the first round. He could be in for another early exit, given his struggles this season.

Currently placed 55th in the live ranking, Goffin, who is coming off a quarter-final finish in Acapulco, has lost six of the last eight fixtures.

Sonego won the last two matches against Goffin, last season at Monte-Carlo and Winston-Salem. He will be eyeing a third successive win as he seeks to spark his season.

The 29-year-old, who has compiled a 7-6 record, had a strong start to the season, resulting in a quarter-final finish at the Australian Open. He, however, hasn’t been consistent since and has managed just one win from his last five matches.

The world number 37 was eliminated in the first round in Dubai in his most recent outing.

Sonego is making his fifth successive appearance at Indian Wells, and only once in his previous four has he suffered a first-round exit.
