Unseeded David Goffin attempts to reach his first ATP Final since 2022. He takes on tenth seed Lorenzo Sonego in the WInston Salem Open semi-finals. Can the former world number seven reach the title decider? Here's our match prediction.

This is a hard court tournament and not since 2021 has the Belgian made it through to a final on this surface. The Belgian is up to 78th in the live rankings and reaching the final can see him rise another ten places.

Before this week he hadn't won two matches in a row in an ATP Tour event. He did recently make it to a hard court Challenger Tour quarter-final. That improvement in form has continued in Winston Salem with four wins.

Victories have come against Jaume Munar, fifth seed Luciano Darderi and 12th seeded Arthur Rinderknech. Thursday saw him beat the 16th seed Rinky Hijikata for the loss of only four games. He leads Sonego 1-0 in previous meetings and that was played on a hard court.

Lorenzo Sonego is seeded tenth but is the highest remaining one in this shock-filled tournament. The world number 58 is also attempting to reach his first ATP Tour final in two years. The Italian is up to 53rd in the live rankings.

His results in Winston Salem are a big improvement on last week's in Cincinnati. He lost in the first qualifying round in that Masters event. He's only had to go on court twice this week. Wins have come against Dominic Stricker and 15th seed Pavel Kotov.
