David Goffin vs Diego Sebastián Schwartzman Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP European Open
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
Third seeded Diego Schwartzman faces unseeded David Goffin in the European Open second round. The winner will face either Richard Gasquet or qualifier Dominic Stricker in the quarter finals. Schwartzman began this European Open ranked 19th in the world, six places lower than at the start of this year. His form has not been good in recent months with his last quarter final being in a clay court tournament (his best surface) in July. If he wins this match, he'll be reaching his first hard court quarter final of 2022.
David Goffin is the world number 58 but the former top 10 player was as low as 74th earlier this year. The Belgian showed in Astana last week just how good he can be. Goffin defeated world number one Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets but then lost to Adrian Mannarino in the last 16. His last quarter final was on grass at Wimbledon but he has won one tournament this year, a clay court event held in Marrakech. Goffin has enjoyed success playing Schwartzman in the past, having won four of their five previous meetings with all the matches being played on a hard court. Their last meeting however was four years ago. The Belgian is inconsistent so low stakes here. He had to go to three sets to beat Gilles-Arnaud Bailly in the first round. Back him to beat Schwartzman, it might take three sets though.
