A couple of unseeded players meet in round two of the hard court sUS Open. David Goffin takes on Adrian Mannarino with the winner facing either 16th seed Sebastian Korda or unseeded Tomas Machac next. Here's our match prediction.

There must have been a huge sigh of relief when Adrian Mannarino beat Borna Coric on Tuesday. His straight sets win ended a run of ten consecutive defeats. It was his first victory since a grass court tournament in June.

Only two of his last 22 matches had been won on all surfaces. He had been knocking on the door though with the Frenchman winning a set in six of his last seven matches. Now he's finally got a win.

He's now 46th in the live rankings and has a chance of equalling his best result in the US Open. He's previously reached round three in New York on five occasions (including last year) but never got any further.

David Goffin has also had a difficult year but has really found some form in the past few weeks. The Belgian reached the last four of a Challenger Tour event earlier this month. He then got to the semi-final of last week's ATP Winston Salem Open.

The first round of this hard court Grand Slam saw him continue his good run with a straight sets victory over 22nd seed Alejandro Tabilo. A win here will take him into the third round of the US Open for the seventh time.

He's not achieved that since getting to round four in 2020. We tip him to beat Mannarino.
