11th seeded Daria Kasatkina bids to avoid a Wimbledon second round shock. The Russian takes on unseeded Jodie Burrage for a place in the third round. Waiting in round three will be either 19th seed Viktoria Azarenka or unseeded Nadia Podorosko. Kasatkina has twice reached the third round of this grass court Grand Slam event. Her best result came in 2018 when making it to the last eight.. Wimbledon  began with her ranked 10th in the world and in her last tournament, she got to the final of the Eastbourne grass court event.  Kasatkina had wins over Karolina Pliskova and Caroline Garcia before losing to Madison Keys in the final. The first round at Wimbledon saw her defeat unseeded Caroline Dolehide for the loss of just five games.

Jodie Burrage was ranked 108th at the start of Wimbledon. Her first round win over the higher ranked Caty McNally has moved her up to 93rd. That's a career high for the British player beating the 106th achieved in May of this year. A win over Kasatkina could take her as high as 82nd in the live rankings. Burrage received a wild card for this tournament so didn't need to go into the qualifiers. The 24-year-old has never made the main draw of any of the other Grand Slam events. Her first round win here was the first Grand Slam main draw of her career. Four grass court tournaments have been played by her this year. Her best result was getting to the final in Nottingham where she lost to Katie Boulter. We go for Kasatkina to win this match in straight sets.
