The final of the Silicon Valley Classic in San Jose sees fourth seeded Daria Kasatkina take on number seven seed Danielle Collins. Kasatkina is the world number 31 but will be up to 27th at the end of this tournament. It's  been a good year for the Russian and that's illustrated by the fact she's at 13th in the WTA Race and will be up to 11th if winning this final. Kasatkina has already won the Phillip Island Trophy and St Petersburg Ladies Trophy this year and including this event has made the last eight in three out of four tournaments. This week has seen her defeat Caroline Garcia, Magda Linette and then top seed Elise Mertens in the semi-final. Only five games were lost by her in that match against Mertens.

Danielle Collins is also climbing up the rankings and is 31st in the live rankings. The American will be in the top 30 if winning this match. This year began with her in 45th position and was down at 50th in May. Last month saw her win a clay court tournament in Palermo, beating Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the final. Before that Collins reached the Hungarian Grand Prix semi-finals, again on clay. This is her best run on a hard court surface since reaching the last eight of the Adelaide Classic in February. Collins has beaten Shelby Rogers, Sloane Stephens (after losing the first set), second seeded Elena Rybakina (both sets being won by a tie-break) and Ana Konjuh in the semi-final, losing just two games. Kasatkina has won their two previous meetings, the most recent being in Australia earlier this year. Back Kasatkina to win the title here.
