They will battle in the second round with the winner playing either Maria Sakkari or Yuan Yue next. Daria Saville has won every other time she has been paired up against Yastremska. She defeated her in Brisbane back in January to take a 3-0 lead in this series. With her recent upturn in form, she will be confident of making a winning start here. Saville has won five of her last seven fixtures and has improved her record to 10-7. Making a return to Miami after missing out last season, Saville defeated Zhang Shuai in three sets in the first round. But has now only managed two wins in her last seven outings. She was last on the court at Indian Wells slightly over a week ago. Yastremska was forced to retire from her tournament opener in Coachella and will hope to have fully recovered for this match. The 23-year-old produced one of the best performances of the season when she made the semifinals at the Australian Open as a qualifier. It was her best-ever result at a grand slam and she will be eager to replicate this here. Yastremska is playing in the main draw in Miami for the first time since her debut in 2019. She is currently placed at number 30 in the live ranking.
