Top seed Daniil Medvedev’s next challenge in his title defence in Vienna will be that of fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas. The two will battle on Saturday in the semifinals with the winner playing either Andrey Rublev or Jannik Sinner in the final. Daniil Medvedev is now only two wins away from yet another Vienna title. The Russian triumphed here last season and as he has been dominant, he will be confident of adding to his impressive trophy cabinet. Medvedev defeated compatriot Karen Khachanov in three sets in the quarterfinals to record his 63rd win of the season. He has now tied his second-best career win tally and has done so in just 77 matches. This will be the 13th meeting between Medvedev and Tsitsipas and the Russian has dominated this series. He has claimed eight victories and one has been on an indoor hard court. The world number three has already secured a place in next month's ATP Finals.

Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated the wildcard Borna Gojo in straight sets in the last round. He is now through to his sixth semifinal of the year. Tsitsipas has been on the receiving end a majority of the time against Medvedev but in recent meetings, he has had success. The Greek number one has claimed three of his four wins against Medvedev in the last five meetings between the two. Two of his wins have been on an indoor hard court and he will hope for the same outcome here. Tsitsipas, who is making his fourth Vienna appearance, has moved up one place to sixth in the live ranking. He is also on course to secure a place in the ATP Finals and can do so if he wins it all.
