Top seed Daniil Medvedev is through to yet another Vienna Open final and will on Sunday battle second seed Jannik Sinner. This will be the fourth meeting between the two this year and all have happened to be tournament deciders. Daniil Medvedev has dominated this series with Sinner and has won six of the previous seven meetings. Five have come on indoor hard courts and he will therefore be confident of defending the crown he won here last season. The Russian, who has dropped just two sets so far here, defeated fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets in the semis. His 64th win of the campaign allowed him to advance to a record-equalling ninth-tour final in a season. Medvedev contested nine finals in 2019. This season however he has been more decisive than four years ago. The world number three has won five titles and two have come against Sinner. Medvedev has already qualified for the year-end ATP Finals in Turin.

Jannik Sinner is also through to the ATP Finals. He sits fourth in both the live ranking and live race. The Italian ended a six-match losing streak against Medvedev in a sublime way in their last encounter. This was in the China Open final earlier in October and he will hope to rise to the occasion again. Sinner won in straight sets and overpowered his opponent in two tiebreaks. The 22-year-old is having his best-ever tour season and has won an impressive 55 matches. He is one of five players to have won at least 50 matches in the ATP thus far. Sinner, who defeated Andrey Rublev 2-0 in the semifinals, has won three of the five finals he has contested this year. He has also dominated on indoor hard courts and has 11 wins in 12 outings on the surface.
