Daniil Medvedev vs Roberto Bautista-Agut Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Halle Open

The world number three, Daniil Medvedev, will take on 24th-ranked Roberto Bautista Agut in the quarter-final of the 2023 Halle open on Friday. This is the seventh time that the pair will meet, with Agut leading the standings 4-2. Of their six meetings, two came on grass, and they won one a piece. The winner of this match will face either Andrey Rublev or Yannick Hanfmann in the next round. After a shock exit in the opening round at Roland Garros, Medvedev’s grass swing hasn’t gone smoothly up to this point. He suffered another unexpected first-round exit in Rosmalen last week, and while he did beat Marcos Giron in his opener here, it was far from a convincing performance. It was a similar situation in round two, where he required over two hours and three sets to overcome Laslo Djere, but he got there in the end. However, we are reminded of his ability when we look at his record for the year, which is currently 41-7. He will need major improvement in this one, but it wouldn’t surprise many if he rises to the occasion once again. 

Meanwhile, it hasn’t been a particularly impressive season so far for Agut, but he will be looking to change that now on one of his favoured surfaces. His clay swing delivered a record of 4-6, taking his overall figures to 14-14 for the year. Agut made light work of lucky loser Andrea Vavassori in his opening match, but Brandon Nakashima proved a much more difficult opponent in round two. The American pushed Agut all the way, but after almost two hours, Agut earned a crucial break in serve and went on to seal the win in the tiebreaker. This is only the second time this season that the Spaniard has reached the third round of a tournament, and he may find it difficult to get past the Russian.
