Novak Djokovic takes on Daniil Medvedev in the final of the 2023 US Open. The Serb may well have revenge on his mind as Medvedev beat him in the US Open final two years ago. That was the last match Djokovic has lost in New York as he didn't play in last year's tournament. A win for the 36-year-old will give him a record-extending 24th Grand Slam title and his third of this year. He's reached the final of all four Grand Slam events this year, the third time he's achieved that feat. Only in the Wimbledon final against Carlos Alcaraz has he been beaten in a Grand Slam this year. It nearly happened again in the third round of this tournament as the second seed lost the first two sets to Laslo Djere but he managed to recover from that. That's the only match in this US Open in which he has dropped a set. The semi-finals saw him beat Ben Shelton in straight sets.This is his 15th match against Medvedev and he's 9-5 up. They are 1-1 for this year but the Serb has won four of their last five matches, all on a hard court surface.

Novak Djokovic has won the US Open on three previous occasions. Daniil Medvedev is bidding to win his second and his triumph here in 2021 is the only Grand Slam success of his career. He does have a good record in this tournament though and this is his third final having also lost to Rafa Nadal four years ago. This year has seen him win five ATP Tour events, four of them on this hard court surface. He's had a tougher route to the final and dropped sets against Christopher O'Connell, Alex de Minaur and in the last four, Carlos Alcaraz. This could be a great match and we go for Djokovic to win the title.
