Daniil Medvedev has sailed to the third round of the Madrid Open without breaking a sweat. He will face qualifier Juan Manuel Cerundolo on Sunday, with the winner advancing to meet Brandon Nakashima or Flavio Cobolli. Read on for our prediction below.

Medvedev had a first-round bye, and then his second-round opponent, Laslo Djere, withdrew. He, therefore, gets to play for the first time since his third-round defeat at Monte Carlo.

In his last five completed matches, Medvedev suffered three defeats. He dropped at least a set in each of his last six fully played matches. The Russian has this season suffered defeats against underdogs and will hope to avoid one here.

As Medvedev plays his first match here, Juan Manuel Cerundolo has already played four, starting from the qualifiers. While fatigue might be an issue, the Argentine will look more towards the reward here.
