Daniil Medvedev is just two matches away from reaching his second successive Indian Wells final. The fourth seed first has to get past Holger Rune who is seeded seventh for this outdoor hard court tournament. Medvedev is fourth in the live rankings and only has Jannik Sinner ahead of him in the live ATP Race. For the winner of this match there's a semi-final against either ninth seed Casper Ruud or 17th seeded Tommy Paul. After the exit of Novak Djokovic, Medvedev is the highest ranked seed in the top half of this Masters 1000 tournament. So far this year Medvedev has made it to the Australian Open final and the Dubai semi-finala. He's reached the last eight here with just one set being lost. That was in his second match when dropping the middle set to 29th seed Sebastian Korda. In the last 16, the Russian beat 13th seed Grigor Dimitrov 6-4 6-4.

Holger Rune is seventh in the latest rankings but only 15th in the Live ATP Race. He's 1-1 in previous meetings with his opponent but both matches were played on clay. Rune has been in good form in recent tournaments played on outdoor hard courts.getting to the last four in Acapulco and losing a lead against Casper Ruud. Before that, he'd made it to the final in Brisbane and the semi-finals in the indoor hard court event held in Montpellier. He didn't need to play a match here until the third round due to a bye and a walkover. He then beat 26th seed Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets. It was tough for him in the last 16 and he needed to save a second set match point before defeating 12th seed Taylor Fritz. We tip Medvedev to make it into the last four.
