Daniil Medvedev vs Brandon Nakashima Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Indian Wells
by Kennedy Kechula in Tennis Predictions
Fifth seed Daniil Medvedev and world number 48 Brandon Nakashima will on Friday face off for the very first time in their careers when they do battle in the second round of the Indian Wells Open on an outdoor hard court. Medvedev is the most in-form player at tour level and serves off here after winning his last three tournaments in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai. The Russian has lost just two matches this year and is currently on a 14-match winning streak. This form has seen him return back to the top 10 after dropping out earlier in the year. He is currently ranked fifth in the live rankings and third in the live race standings. Having never gone past the fourth round at the “fifth Grand Slam”, Medvedev will be hoping his form persists here as he is one of the favourites to win it all.
Brandon Nakashima is ranked 38 places behind Medvedev in the ATP official standings. He defeated fellow American John Isner in straight sets in the first round to earn only his second win of the season. This allowed him to move up to 44th in the live ranking after starting off his week ranked 48th in the world. He has also largely been inactive this season and has played only five matches and arrived at this Masters 1000 event after competing in Acapulco where he managed his first win of the year. His start to this year is a complete contrast to how he ended 2022. The 21-year-old closed out last year with two titles, winning in San Diego and in the Next Gen Finals in Miami, this saw him move to a career-high 43 in the world ranking. A win here can see him surpass that by one more place.

Our Daniil Medvedev vs Brandon Nakashima Prediction
Daniil Medvedev is the form player at tour level at the moment and should win here with ease but Brandon Nakashima has nothing to lose after a slow start to the year and as such could make it difficult for Medvedev, especially with the backing of home support. We predict however that Daniil Medvedev v Brandon Nakashima will end in a straight sets victory for Medvedev.
