Daniil Medvedev bids to reach his third Australian Open final. The third seed takes on Alexander Zverev who is seeded sixth in this first Grand Slam of the year.  For the winner there's a final against either defending champion Novak Djokovic or Jannik Sinner. Medvedev has a strong record in this hard court tournament and reached the final here in both 2021 and 2022. If he can win this match, the Russian will be in his second successive Grand Slam final after reaching the title decider at last year's US Open. If he can win this title, Medvedev will move above Carlos Alcaraz into second spot in the world rankings. His quarter final saw him have a tough match against ninth seed Hubert Hurkacz and had to go to the final set to get through.

Alexander Zverev is continuing his excellent start to the new year. He helped Germany win the United Cup with a string of singles successes. The German is top of the live ATP rankings and now attempts to get to his second Grand Slam final. His only other appearance in one was at the 2020 US Open and earlier that year he'd reached his only semi-final in this tournament. Zverev trails Medvedev 11-7 in previous meetings but he's only won one of the last six. He's also had a tough run to this semi-final and beat second seed Carlos Alcaraz in the last eight. All bar one of his matches have seen over 3.5 sets played and we go for that stat to come up again here.
