Daniil Medvedev vs Alexander Zverev Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Finals
by Joseph King | in ATP Finals Predictions
A rematch of the final in the 2021 edition of the Nitto ATP Finals sees Daniil Medvedev taking on Alexander Zverev for the sixth time in 2023 alone. This is the second match in the ATP Finals Red Group for both players with Medvedev currently topping the group while Zverev sits second. Third-seed Daniil Medvedev prevailed in straight sets over Andrey Rublev in his first match of the tournament. Seventh-seeded Zverev picked up an excellent come-from-behind, 2-1 win over second-seed Carlos Alcaraz in his first group stage match.
It’s been a year to remember for Daniil Medvedev who has reached his career-high win total in a single season at 65. The Russian had a ridiculous streak from February to April earlier this year. He would go on a run of making the final in five consecutive tournaments, all hard courts (one indoor, four outdoor) and being crowned champion four times. In total, Medvedev has won five ATP Tour titles in 2023 while making it to the final a total of nine times. That includes a US Open runner-up finish to Novak Djokovic, his best Grand Slam finish of the season. Medvedev entered the ATP Finals on back-to-back defeats after losing the final of the Vienna Open and being bounced out of the second-round of the Paris Masters.
Sascha Zverev had a slow first five months of the 2023 season, making only one semi-final in his first 11 ATP Tour events. He would pick up steam in the second half of the year, starting with three consecutive semi-final appearances in Geneva, Roland Garros and Halle. The German would then go on to claim his first title of the year in the Hamburg European Open in July. Zverev would make the semi-final in Cincinnati followed by the quarter-final of the US Open before being crowned champion of the Chengdu Open. Zverev's last tournament prior to this one ended in the third round of the Paris Masters where he was eliminated by Stefanos Tsitsipas.
