Daniel Evans vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Dubai Open
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
Britain's Daniel Evans has been the big surprise in this week's ATP tournament in Dubai. He's made it all the way to the semi-final and now takes on second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas. The winner faces either Novak Djokovic or Gael Monfils in the final. Evans is the world number 37 but the live rankings have him up to 27. He's had a tough route to the last four and it wasn't looking good for him in the first round. He lost the first set to fourth seeded Fabio Fognini but fought back to win the next two sets and cause a shock. Another three-setter followed in the second round against Pierre-Hugues Herbert, winning a final set tie-break 9-7. The British player caused another surprise in the quarter final. He beat sixth seeded Andrey Rublev in straight sets getting revenge for a loss to him in the Adelaide International last month.. Again, there was a tiebreak, this time going to 11-9 for Evans. He is in good form, having reached the final of the recent tournament in Rotterdam, where he beat Karen Khachanov before losing to Gael Monfils. Evans has been in two ATP finals previously (losing both) but that was in the ATP 250 Series.
Stefanos Tsitispas is the second seed and is looking for back-to-back tournament wins. Last week saw him successfully defend his Marseille title beating Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final. That was a return to form after a disappointing start to 2020 that saw him lose to Milos Raonic in the last 32 of the Australian Open. This week, Tsitsipas has again been in good form and only dropped one set in reaching the semi-finals. That was in the last eight when he had to come from a set down to beat Jan-Lennard Struff. Before that he had beaten Pablo Carrena Busta and in round two, had another win over Alexander Bublik who he beat in the Marseille semi-final last week. He can continue his good form and get the win over Evans to reach the final.
