Fifth seed Roman Safiullin and unseeded Daniel Evans will square off in the first round at the Los Cabos Open. Daniel Evans is having a poor start to the year. He has started the season with the same struggles he finished with last year. The Brit who won just one of his final six matches in 2023, has managed just one win in four outings this season. He is on a three-match losing run with all three defeats coming on hard courts. Ranked 42nd in the live ranking at the moment, Evans was defeated in the first round in Delray last time out. He defeated Safiullin the first time they met, which was five seasons ago in the challenger circuit.
