Sixth seed Jannik Sinner makes his tour return and will on Friday to battle unseeded Daniel Evans at the China Open. The two will lock horns in the first round with the winner playing either Juncheng Shang or Yoshihito Nishioka next. Evans will hope not to suffer the same fate as he did in Chengdu a week ago. High off Great Britain’s success at the Davis Cup, Evans was eliminated in his first match in Chengdu. The 33-year-old has struggled with his form and currently has lost more matches than he has won, compiling an 18-23 record. He has also lost more matches on hard court, but despite this, the surface has seen his best form. Evans has recorded ten of his total victories and his only title of the season on hard court. He is currently ranked 32nd in the live ranking.

World number seven Jannik Sinner is back to the tour after a more than three-week break. The Italian was last on the court during his fourth-round elimination at the US Open. Sinner has been in superb form this year and currently has compiled a 44-13 record. He has dominated on hard court where he has won 21 of 27 fixtures and secured one of his two titles. Sinner won the Canadian Open in August to record his biggest tour success. He has also finished as runner-up twice this season with one coming on hard court in Miami.
