Eighth seed Daniel Evans faces qualifier Filip Misolic in round one of the hard court Stockholm Open. The winner will be up against either Marton Fucsovics or Gael Monfils in the second round. Evans is currently 34th in the world rankings and in the same position in the ATP Race. The British player won't be qualifying for the Tour Finals and will aim to be in the top 32 come the Australian Open to ensure a seeding in that Grand Slam. Evans won the hard court tournament held in Washington in August but hasn't built on that and he hasn't reached a quarter final since then. He's had some tough draws though and lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the Shanghai Masters last week.

Filip Misolic is ranked 181st in the world but was a career high 126th in April. The Austrian had to go through the qualifying rounds to get into the Stockholm main draw. He beat another British player, Liam Broady, in his second match. Misolic has spent most of this year on the Challenger Tour with a recent quarter final in Austria but that was in a clay court tournament. His most recent hard court tournament was a Challenger Tour event held in Bratislava and he lost in the first round of that to Zsombor Piros, ranked 109th at the time. He's yet to win a hard court ATP Tour main draw match this year but that was a good win over Broady who was the third seed in qualifying. Evans should still be able to win this though.
