Daniel Evans vs Alejandro Tabilo Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Wimbledon Championships
by Steve Ashfield in ATP Wimbledon Championships Predictions
A lot has happened to Alejandro Tabilo in the past year. He’s the 24th seed for Wimbledon this year and takes on unseeded Daniel Evans in round one.
This time last year, he was only 145th in the world and lost in the first qualifying round of this grass court Grand Slam. Now he’s up to 19th in the live rankings and last Saturday won the Mallorca Open.
That was his second ATP title but his first in a grass court event. He also won a clay court Challenger Tour title so that's three titles, all on different surfaces.
In the Live ATP Race, the Chilean is up to 14th place. Before the Mallorca Open, he reached the last 16 at Queen's Club, losing to eventual winner Tommy Paul in straight sets.
He showed excellent form in Mallorca though. Tabilo won four matches to win the title. Only in his semi-final against Gael Monfils did he drop a set and went on to beat Sebastian Ofner in the final.
To reach round two for the first time, he has to get past Daniel Evans. If he does, the next opponent will be either Flavio Cobolli or Rinky Hijikata. Evans will be hoping it’s him who faces one of those unseeded players.
He’s struggling for form though and is 60th in the rankings but 174th in the Live Race. Evans has only won three of his last nine matches. His most recent match was at Queen’s Club where he retired hurt against Brandon Nakashima when they were a set each. We tip Tabilo to get the win here.
