Qualifier Oscar Otte bids to reach the third round at Wimbledon for the second successive year. The qualifier faces unseeded Daniel Elani Galan in the second round. Otte was the 32nd seed last year and lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the third round. When he began this grass court Grand Slam, Otte was ranked 233rd but was as high as 36th last year. The German had lost in the first round of each of his last three Grand Slam tournaments. He ended that poor run with a straight sets win over fellow German Dominic Kopfer. Otte has struggled for form this year with only a couple of last 16s being reached. On grass, the 28-year-old played two warm-up events and didn't win a match. Both losses came against players ranked in the top 70. He had to win three qualifying matches to make it into the main draw this year. Wins came against Benoit Paire, Leando Riedi (dropping the second set) and a four-set win over Marc Polmans.

Daniel Elani Gahan started this tournament ranked 85th in the world. The Colombian is also attempting to make it into the third round at Wimbledon for the second year in a row. 2022 saw him beaten by Brandon Nakashima. He'd beaten Dominic Kpepfer in round one and then received a walkover in round two when Roberto Bautista Agut withdrew from the tournament. Like his opponent, Galan also lost in the first round of the first two Grand Slams of the year. The first round of Wimbledon saw him defeat 23rd seed Yoshihito Nishioka in straight sets. His grass court warm-up saw him play at Eastbourne where he made it through the qualifying rounds but lost to Maxime Cressy in the last 32. This could be a close match and we go for Galan to win a set.
