Sixth seed Matteo Berrettini will continue with his quest for a second Swiss Open title when he faces unseeded Daniel Elahi Galan. The two will battle in the second round of the competition on Thursday. Let’s have a look at the stats and our prediction for this match.

The winner in this match will advance to play Felix Auger-Aliassime or Yannick Hanfmann in the quarter-finals. Galan’s good start here saw him defeat Vit Kopriva in straight sets in the first round. It was the perfect return to a tournament he last played in in 2019.

This was win number 17 of a topsy-turvy season for the Colombian who has lost 20 times. He is yet to compile a winning record on any surface, even on his favoured clay. Twelve of his victories, however, have come on clay which should have him fancying his chances against the in-form Berrettini. The 28-year-old has now moved up to 136th in the live ranking.

Matteo Berrettini got the better of defending Gstaad champion Pedro Cachin in the first round. He won in straight sets to start his third appearance in this ATP 250 event. The Italian has reached the final in each of his last two appearances here, winning the title on his debut in 2018.

He finished as runner-up two seasons ago. Berrettini is having a superb season and has so far won one title and finished as runner-up in another. His title success was on clay in Marrakech where he ended a two-year wait for a tour crown.

The former world number six’s fitness struggles last season resulted in him drastically dropping in the world rankings. He is currently 75th in the live ranking after making a seven-place leap following his first-round victory.
