Stefanos Tsitsipas is the fifth seed at Roland Garros and was the runner-up here in 2021. Round two of this year’s clay court Grand Slam sees him face unseeded Daniel Altmaier. The winner will be up against unseeded opposition in round three, either Zhizhen Zhang or Lorenzo Sonego. Not since 2018 has he failed to reach the fourth round of this tournament. The Greek has already won the Monte Carlo Masters this year and was the runner-up in Barcelona. Round one of this year’s Roland Garros saw him beat unseeded Marton Fucsovics in straight sets. He’s tenth in the live rankings and sixth in the Live ATP Race.

Daniel Altmaier had a much tougher time making it into round two. He had to go to five sets to get past Laslo Djere. That wasn’t expected when the German won the first two sets. The final three saw 38 games played with the final set being won in a lengthy tie-break. That win has taken Altmaier to 87th in the live rankings. A win over Tsitsipas will take him into the third round for the second successive year. His best run at Roland Garros is getting to round four in 2020. On clay this year, he’d lost his last four matches before this tournament got underway but did get to the last 32 in Madrid. We tip Tsitsipas to get the victory in straight sets.
