Daniel Altmaier and Otto Virtanen will be facing off in the first round at the Marrakech Open on Tuesday. This match will mark the second meeting between the two, with the winner meeting Roberto Carballes Baena or Taha Baadi. We have a prediction for the match below.

Altmaier is coming from the Miami Open where he lost 2-0 to Coleman Wong in the first round. He has, however, progressed past this round five times this season.

His highlights for the season were quarter-final appearances in Rotterdam, Marseille and the Cap Cana Challenger. Clay is his preferred surface and should improve his current 10-12 record.

In the first ever meeting with Altmaier, Virtanen suffered a straight-set loss in Marseille in February. It has so far been a tough campaign for Virtanen.

The Finnish player comes into this encounter having compiled a losing run that currently stands at 3-9. Clay is not even his favorite surface, and his struggles could continue here. Virtanen is coming here off the back of three straight defeats.

The most recent was in Miami where he fell in the qualifiers 2-1 to Alexander Blockx. He hasn’t lasted more than two matches in his past nine tournaments in both the tour and Challenger circuits.
