ATP Challenger Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Men Singles Predictions & Betting tips - Challenger
by Steve Ashfield |
Defending champion Daniel Altmaier is the top seed for the Challenger Tour event in Puerto Vallarta. He takes on Dominik Koepfer in an all-German first round match. Altmaier is 98th in the live rankings but was as high as 53rd in May of last year. The German made a slow start to the year, losing his first three matches, He finally got a win in Dallas but that was against a player ranked outside the top 250. Altmaier went on to lose to John Isner in the second round. A first round loss in Delray Beach followed but he had more success when moving down to the Challenger Tour. He reached the last eight in Monterrey but didn't beat anyone ranked in the top 100. Last week saw him play in the ATP Tour event held in Acapulco. He put up a good show against Brandon Nakashima but lost in three sets.
Dominik Koepfer is down at 236th in the live rankings. The 28-year-old was a career high 50th in 2021 but slipped down the rankings last year with only three wins on the main ATP Tour. He's barely played this year with just two Challenger Tour events before this tournament in Puerto Vallarta. His year didn't get off to a good start with a first round lose in Rome, GA to Alex Michelsen. Only four games were won against the player who was ranked 466th at the time. His second Challenger Tour event of the year was in the Texas Tennis Classic where he won the first set of his round one match against Marco Trungelliti but then lost the next two. Back Altmaier to get the win here.
