Daniel Altmaier vs Brandon Nakashima Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Acapulco Open
by Kennedy Kechula in Tennis Predictions
Unseeded players Daniel Altmaier and Brandon Nakashima will for the first time in their careers face off against each other when they clash in the first round of the Mexican Open on Wednesday on an outdoor hard court. The winner will advance to the second round to face either top seed Carlos Alcaraz or world number 62 Mackenzie McDonald. Altmaier arrives in Acapulco ranked 96th in the world after making the quarterfinals in the Challenger in Monterrey. It was the furthest he has advanced in a tournament all season. He won his first two matches by straight sets before being handed the same fate by eventual champion Nuno Borges. The German is yet to come close to his form in late 2022 which saw him close out the year with two titles in Lima and Guayaquil. He is appearing in the main draw in Acapulco for the second time and will hope to progress from the first round for the first time and help his chances of maintaining in the world’s top 100.
Brandon Nakashima has played only two matches this year at Adelaide 2 and in Melbourne and has lost both. It is a slow start for the American who ended 2022 with two titles, winning it all in San Diego and in the Next Gen Finals in Milan. Just like Altmaier, Nakashima is also yet to advance from the first round in Acapulco and has taken part in the last two editions. In his second appearance in the main draw at the Australian Open, Nakashima lost in five sets in the first round to compatriot Makenzie McDonald, coming back from 2-0 down to force the decider. Ranked 49th in the world, the 21-year-old can only move up one place in the live ranking with a win but that will be the least of his concern at the moment as he tries to get back to match fitness after being inactive for more than a month.
