Daniel Altmaier vs Borna Ćorić Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Mutua Madrid Open
by Devesh Jaganath | in Tennis Predictions
The last eight will become the final four at the Mutua Madrid Open this week, and in our featured quarter-final match, we will see Daniel Altmaier square off against Borna Coric on Wednesday evening. Coric has been contending with a few niggling injuries for much of this year, which has notably affected his rhythm and performances. Ranked 20th in the world, Coric came to Madrid following as many as four first-round exits in his last four tournaments. Two of those defeats came on the clay in Monte Carlo and at the Srpska Open last month, which saw him start this tournament with a record of 0-2 on this surface. However, the Russian has worked extremely hard in this event and managed to grind out wins against Hugo Gaston and Hubert Hurkacz in the first two rounds before coming out on the right side of a nail-biter against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the last round. With an overall record of just 10-8 for the year and coming up against an opponent that enjoys this surface, Coric will need to put on another incredible display in this one to stand a chance of reaching his first semi-final for the year.
Ranked 92nd in the world, Daniel Altmaier has taken full advantage of his lucky loser draw that allowed him entry to this tournament after losing his second qualifier against Jurij Rodionov last week. Since then though, the German has not looked back, taking down Oscar Otte, Yannick Hanfmann, and Jaume Munar thereafter, without dropping a set to any of them. The German is now 16-12 for the year but has found more joy on the clay with a positive record of 9-3. Cachin’s best performance this year came at the Challenger event in Sarasota last month, where he went all the way on to win the tournament by beating Daniel Elahi Galan in straight sets in the final. These two have never played each other in the past but having gotten his share of fortune in this tournament, Altmaier will feel that the luck is on his side and will fancy his chances against an opponent that has been struggling in recent times.

Our Daniel Altmaier vs Borna Ćorić Prediction
While there is a vast gap in ranking, this could be a very close encounter between two players that are desperately trying to find their best form. Altmaier has taken full advantage of his fortune in this tournament and since then has been incredible, as he showed in his last match against Jaume Munar, where he conceded just three games in two sets. Coric is expected to win the match, but we fancy Altmaier to register a set win in this one. Our Daniel Altmaier v Borna Coric prediction is for Altmaier to win a set.
