With the Round of 16 drawing to a close on Thursday evening, the quarter-final stages now beckon, and in our featured match, we will see Dalma Galfi take on Marketa Vondrousova in what could be a difficult match for the 92-ranked female player in the world. Dalfi moved into the last eight of this tournament by beating Eva Lys (6-4, 3-6, 6-3), but perhaps her most notable win came in the Round of 32 when she saw off seventh seed Bernarda Pera in straight sets (6-2, 7-6). Dalfi had a difficult start to the year, bowing out in the first round of four consecutive tournaments ahead of this one, including a humbling loss to Qinwen Zheng in the Australian Open (6-0, 6-2). With four losses in eight matches already this year, Dalfi seems to now be finding her rhythm and will want to put on a good showing in this match against a solid-looking opponent.
Marketa Vondrousova has looked very good in this tournament and has not lost a single set in her two matches in the Linz Open so far. The Czech knocked out Viktoriya Tomova in the Round of 32 and followed up with an even more impressive win over Rebeka Masarova in straight sets (6-1, 6-1). Vondrousova managed to reach the Round of 32 of the Australian Open earlier this year which came after an excellent showing in the Adelaide 1 tournament, where she reached the quarter-final stage before being knocked out by the world number two ranked Aryna Sabalenka. Vondrousova has a record of six wins and three losses in 2023 and will have her sights set on going deep into this tournament as she chases down her first title for the year.

While Dalfi has been impressive in this competition to date, she will likely find this to be a much more difficult assignment.
