The NHL Western Conference Finals enters game six with the second-seed Dallas Stars looking to force a game seven against the top-seeded Vegas Golden Knights. Dallas has battled back from a 3-0 series hole following their 4-2 win in game five. While a 3-0 comeback is still exceedingly rare, it has happened more in the NHL than any other USA based sport. On four other occasions a team went on to win the series after losing the first three games with the most recent taking place in 2014. The Golden Knights may rue their inability to close things out on their home ice in game five as they now have to head back to Dallas for this encounter. While a potential game seven would take place in Vegas, the Stars would have all the momentum in that scenario.
The improved play by Dallas goalie Jake Oettinger is a large part of why the Stars have been able to win the previous two games and claw this series back to 3-2. Oettinger posted just a .848 save percentage and 4.33 goals against average in the first three games of the series, which saw Dallas allow 11 goals while scoring only five. Since then, Oettinger is back to playing the kind of hockey that fans have become accustomed to during the regular season. The Knights have managed to breach the 24-year-olds goal on only four occasions over the last two games. With an increase in their goal-scoring production, Dallas is right back into this series and the bookmakers have them as the slight favorites to get the win in game six.
