A matchup in the NHL Central division sees the Dallas Stars host the Minnesota Wild at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday night. Dallas comes into this game off the back of a 3-2 shootout win over the Ducks on Monday in their first game back after the All-Star break. The win ended an ugly run of three straight losses for the Stars and improved their record to 29 wins, 13 defeats and 10 overtime losses for a total of 68 points. Dallas sits atop the Central division and holds a three point lead over the second-place Jets. The Stars have shown solid consistency this season, winning 54% of their home games and 55% of their away trips. However, a recent stretch of only four wins from the last 10 games means Dallas needs to get back on track with Winnipeg nipping at their heels.
On the other side is the Minnesota Wild who sit third in the Central division with a record of 27 wins, 18 losses and four defeats for a total of 58 points. They trail their opponents today by 10 points and are coming off a 3-2 away loss to Arizona. The loss snapped a two game winning streak which occurred before the All-Star and the will now be looking to end an ugly streak of four consecutive losses when playing on the road. The recent away losing streak means the Wild’s road record has dropped to below .500 as they have won 12 of their 25 games. Minnesota have given up 17 goals in their last four away games and will need to step their game up if they are to cause an upset against the Central divisions top-scoring team.
