Dallas Stars vs Colorado Avalanche Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL

A Central Division matchup in the early hours of Friday morning sees the 24-11-3 Colorado Avalanche heading to Texas to play the 22-10-4 Dallas Stars. There are only three points separating them at present in the standings but the Stars have a couple of games in hand. The Stars have been solid at home so far this season, notching up a record of 12-6-1 but they will be disappointed to have lost their most recent game at home to the Montreal Canadiens. Before that, they had been flying at American Airlines Arena, though a couple of wins did come at the expense of the Chicago Blackhawks who are the second-worst team in the league. One of those was an 8-1 success, the third time this season that the Stars have notched up eight. They have scored 35 goals in their last seven home games but their netminding has been an issue this season with starter Jake Oettinger currently on the shelf.
In seven of their last 11 games, the Avalanche have scored four or more goals, hitting six in three of those. They won a tight game at the St Louis Blues just after Christmas to end a losing run of six on the road. That should see them bring a little more confidence on the road now that they have picked up those two points, winning 5-4 over the New York Islanders on their home ice since. They are a different team at home, winning seven straight and generally against better teams than they have been facing on the road. It is difficult to see exactly why they have struggled so much when they have been on their travels so a game in Dallas with plenty on the line at this stage of the season will be a test.
