The new-look Dallas Mavericks host the misfiring Houston Rockets in the Battle of Texas on Saturday afternoon. The Mavs come into this matchup sitting eighth in the Western Conference standings at 27-25 while the Rockets have dropped to fourth at 32-19. Here’s our match prediction.

Mavericks fans are surely still dealing with the fallout of the bombshell trade which shipped mega star Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2019 first round pick. Davis, who recently earned his 10th All-Star selection, is set to make his Mavericks debut tonight.

Dallas should have some solid momentum heading into this game after a surprise 127-120 upset road win over the Celtics on Thursday. It was a full team effort with five players registering at least 15 points.

The victory snapped a three-game losing run for the Mavericks and now sees them holding a slim 1.5 game lead over the 11th-placed Warriors in the competitive West standings.

The Rockets will be desperate to get back to winning ways as they are in the midst of their longest losing streak of the season at five games. Their last outing saw them lose 127-114 on the road to the Timberwolves as Minnesota's Anthony Edwards dropped 41 points.

Houston is missing starting point guard Fred VanVleet along with Jabari Smith Jr.
