The second of an NFL triple-header on Thanksgiving Day sees an NFC East showdown between the first-place Dallas Cowboys and the third-place Washington Commanders. This will be the Cowboys’ 56th appearance on Thanksgiving Day and their 11th meeting with Washington. Dallas has won eight of their previous 10 matchups with Washington on Thanksgiving and holds a 33-22-1 all-time record on the holiday.

The Cowboys are 7-3 on the year which has them trailing the first-place Eagles by two games for the top spot in the division. They come into this matchup in fine form after two blowout victories in their last two appearances. The first was a massive 49-17 beatdown of the New York Giants which was followed up with a 33-10 win over the Panthers last Sunday. Dallas has made a habit of recording big victories this season which sees them ranked first in the entire NFL in average points differential at +12.7 (second-place 49ers at +12.2). The Boys have been dominant at the AT&T Stadium, winning all four of their outings while also covering the spread in each.

The Commanders come into this Thanksgiving Day matchup with a 4-7 record and sitting third in the division. They certainly have their work cut out for them if they are going to keep their extremely faint playoffs hopes alive. After a 2-0 start to the 2023/24 campaign, the Commanders have seen things completely fall apart as they have managed just two wins from their last nine games. Washington has lost their last two in a row following a 31-19 home defeat to the Giants on the weekend. The visitors have been unable to keep the opposition team off the scoreboard and their defense ranks as one of the worst in the league. Washington holds a defense DVOA rank of 30th out of 32 teams.
