Third seed Coco Gauff faces 30th-seeded Leylah Fernandez in the Australian Open third round. The winner will face unseeded opposition in round four of this outdoor hard court tournament. Here's our match prediction.

It'll be either Naomi Osaka or Belinda Bencic who the winner has to face in the last 16. Gauff has reached at least the fourth round in eight of her previous nine Grand Slam tournaments. Last year saw her get to the semi-finals in Melbourne.

This year has seen the 20-year-old be part of the United Cup winning American team.  All five of her singles matches were won without a set being dropped. That included beating Fernandez in the final against Canada.

Her good form has continued in this tournament with two more straight sets victories over Sofia Kenin and Jodie Burrage. That's made it 11 successive wins after her WTA Tour Finals triumh last year.

Leylah Fernandez is up to 25th in the live rankings. The 22-year-old has only once got past the third round of a Grand Slam since being the losing finalist in the 2021 US Open. This is her first time in the Australian Open third round.

Wins this week have come against Yuliia Starodubtseva and Cristina Busca who she lost the first set to. We tip Gauff to win this in straight sets.
