The qualifier Anna Kalinskaya will hope to continue with her excellent Dubai campaign when she battles third seed Cori Gauff next. The American, who has compiled a 12-2 record, battled through three sets against Karolina Pliskova in the third round. She had to come from a set down to win, highlighting that she is still not yet back to her dominant self. The world number three has suffered both her losses in her last four outings. Anna Kalinskaya didn’t go past the qualifying rounds last year in her debut here. This season, she hasn’t just qualified for the main draw but has placed herself with a chance at the title. This win was her 13th in 17 outings this year which have all taken place on hard courts. The highlight of her season is her run to the quarterfinals in Melbourne. Kalinskaya is now up nine places to a new career-high world ranking and is placed 31st in the live ranking.
