Colorado Avalanche vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL
by Joseph King | in NHL Predictions
The Edmonton Oilers will try to return to winning ways when they head to the Ball Arena to take on the defending champion Colorado Avalanche. The Oilers agonizingly fell to a second straight shootout loss when they came up short on their home ice 5-4 against the Rangers on Friday night. The defeat means it is now only one win in the last six games for Edmonton as they see their placement in the top three in the Pacific division fading away. They now sit fourth in the division with a record of 30 wins, 19 defeats and seven overtime losses putting them on 67 points. However, the Oilers are still well positioned to make the playoffs as they trail the third-place Kraken by only one point while they currently are the leading Wild Card team as things currently stand. Offense has never been a problem for the Oilers as they are the league’s top scoring team but they will have to step it up on the defensive end to get back in the hunt.
On the other side, the defending champions will be hoping for a positive run of form as we head into a crucial stretch of the regular season. The Aves should be encouraged by a string of back-to-back wins which also includes three wins from their last four following a 4-1 victory over the Blues away from home. Colorado is hanging on to the third spot in the Central division with 30 wins, 19 losses and five overtime defeats for a similar points total of 65 to their opponents today. The Avalanche now hold a slim two point lead over fourth-place Minnesota and trail the second-place Jets by four points. Colorado have left a lot to be desired in their home form this season with 13 wins coming from a total of 26 games at the Ball Arena.

Our Colorado Avalanche vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction
This is a big game for both teams as they each need maximum points here to secure their positions in the playoff hunt. The oddsmakers have this one listed pretty closely between the two sides, likely down to Edmonton’s strong away results while the Aves have been about average on their home ice. The rest advantage for the visitors could be enough to see them over the line here and that deadly combination of McDavid and Draisaitl means the Oilers can never be counted out of any game.
