Colorado Avalanche vs Boston Bruins Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL
by Joseph King | in NHL Predictions
A heavyweight matchup in the NHL on Wednesday sees a short-handed Colorado Avalanche hosting the red-hot Boston Bruins at the Ball Arena in downtown Denver. The Avs come into this game looking to snap out of a two game losing streak and move up the Western Conference standings, where they currently sit eighth. The back-to-back losses moved the defending Stanley Cup champions' record to 13 wins, nine defeats and one overtime loss, good for 27 points. On the other side, the Bruins will look to respond after having recently seen their historic 14 game home winning streak come to an end at the hands of Las Vegas. Boston has 20 wins, three defeats and one overtime loss, putting them second in the East with 41 points.

Colorado Avalanche - Boston Bruins: Form Analysis
Boston’s 4-3 overtime loss to the Golden Knights was their first home defeat of the season after a record-breaking run of 14 straight wins on their home ice. It will be interesting to see how they respond here against the defending champions. The Bruins have been solid on the road this season, winning six of their nine games, and come up against an Avs team that has won five of their nine home outings. Colorado is coming off a 5-3 away loss to Philadelphia, their third defeat in the last four games.

Colorado Avalanche & Boston Bruins Squad Analysis
The big news around the Avalanche camp is that perennial Hart Trophy candidate Nathan MacKinnon will miss up to four weeks with an upper-body injury. It’s a bitter blow for the Aves as MacKinnon is the team’s leading points scorer with eight goals and 26 assists on the year. They’ll also be without Kurtis MacDermid, while Lehkonen and Foudy are listed as day-to-day. The Bruins enter this game with a fully healthy squad apart from Craig Smith who is listed as day-to-day.
Colorado Avalanche - Boston Bruins Key Points
- The Avalanche have given up 19 goals over their last four games, for an average of 4.75 per game.
- The Avs have only managed to score eight goals over their last four games, even being shut out by the Jets last week in a 5-0 loss.
- The Bruins defense has been superb with the 4-3 loss to the Knights the first time Boston has allowed a team to score more than three goals in the last 14 games.
- Boston leads the season series between these two sides 1-0 after their 5-1 victory over the Aves just four days ago.

Our Colorado Avalanche vs Boston Bruins Prediction
We’re going to back the Boston Bruins to bounce back from their loss to Vegas with a win against the defending champs. Colorado is simply devastated by injuries at the moment which leaves them in an extremely difficult position for this game. Coupled with the fact that they now have to take on arguably the hottest team in the league and this game has all the makings of a convincing away win. With the Avalanche also struggling to score goals (averaging two goals scored per game in their last four) as well as the Bruins defense playing at an extremely high level, Boston looks a safe bet to get the victory tonight.
