The 10-5 Cleveland Browns host the 6-9 New York Jets on Thursday Night Football this week. The Browns are 10th in points for and 12th in points given up this season, solid on both sides of the ball.  Joe Flacco is the fourth different quarterback to start this season, the team responding well to win three of his first four starts. He has thrown for more than 1,300 yards so the gunslinger arm is still there despite closing in on his 39th birthday. He has 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions with a completion rate of 59.4% so there are bits to work on but his experience down the stretch could be invaluable. Only 18 quarterbacks in the history of the game have thrown for more yards, linking up spectacularly with Amari Cooper against the Houston Texans last week. David Njoku is having a career year at tight end, his 748 receiving yards are good for 6th most at his position. The Browns are 7-1 at home this season, winning five straight on their own patch and have won their last three games in the league. Their only defeat came at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens and there is no disgrace in that.

Just two wins on the road for the Jets so far this season and one of those was against the New York Giants so they were just the designated road team but playing in their home stadium. Their only true road win was at the Denver Broncos in a game where they benefited from a string of fumbles, including a late one returned for a touchdown to ice the game. Losing Aaron Rodgers in game one of the season has unsurprisingly seen the Jets struggle, also using four different quarterbacks. There have been some good signs with both their offensive and defensive rookie of the year winners from 2022 backing up their excellent first-year campaigns with a solid second. Garrett Wilson has 958 receiving yards this year to back up his 1,103, just one yard per game shy of last year. Sauce Gardner has not put up quite the same numbers as last year but his contribution to a defence that is capable of being top 10 in this league should not be underestimated. They are playing for pride only now but with more luck next year, they should be much more competitive.
