Unseeded players Christopher Eubanks and Christopher O’Connell will on Saturday meet in the third round at Wimbledon. The winner here will play the winner of the match between fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas and unseeded Laslo Djere next. Christopher Eubanks defeated crowd favourite Cameron Norrie in four sets to advance to this round. This is the first time the American is playing in the main draw at the All England Club and he hasn’t looked out of place one bit. It is a reflection of the season he is having. Eubanks has won 32 of the 48 matches he has played with 12 of his victories coming on grass. He won in Mallorca before arriving in London with the title being his first tour-level success. The win over Norrie has moved him up to 40th place in the live ranking which is a new career high.

Christopher O’Connell is also up to a new career-high world ranking. The Australian is up eight places to 65th in the live ranking after overcoming Jiri Vesely in straight sets in the previous round. This was the 23rd win of a rocky season for O’Connell who has been on the receiving end 21 times this year. Though he has performed better on grass over the years as compared to Eubanks, he has struggled on the surface this season. He has won four of his seven outings on grass. O’Connell won the only other time that he and Eubansk were paired up against one another. This was on hard court in the Busan Challenger last season. He will hope for the same outcome here as he also targets to make the second week of competition for the first time.
