Christian Garin vs Marcelo Tomas Barrios Vera Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Santiago Open

We may still be in the first round of the 2024 Chile Open but we know one major fact. A Chilean will be in the quarter finals of this outdoor clay court tournament. Round one sees Christian Garin take on Tomas Barrios Vera with the winner facing fifth seeded Chilean Alejandro Tabilo. Garin is 83rd in the new rankings and that's a long way below his career high of 17th achieved three years ago. The 27-year-old reached the second round in the Rio Open last week. He beat Roberto Carballes Baena in three sets before being beaten by Joao Fonseca in straight sets. His clay court season so far hasn't gone too well with two first round losses before last week, one being in a Challenger Tour event.

Tomas Barrios Vera is outside the top 100 and currently 113th in the latest list. He's also been struggling for results on clay this year. Just one of his five matches has been won and that was in Rio last week against Gustavo Heide. His run in Rio soon ended though with a loss to second seed Cameron Norrie and only two games being won. He also lost in the first round in a Challenger Tour event, Cordoba and Buenos Aires. Vera won two Challenger Tour events on clay last year but has struggled to repeat those results on the ATP Tour.  We tip Garin to get the win here.
