Chloe Paquet will seek her first win against Harriet Dart when the two meet on Tuesday in US Open qualifying. Both players are unseeded going into this first round qualifier. The winner will play either third-seed Yanina Wickmayer or the unseeded Katherine Sebov in the next round. Paquet has never advanced past the qualifying rounds at this Grand Slam and will hope this is the year she does. In her four appearances, she has lost in the first round three times but last season managed to reach the final third round. The Frenchwoman arrives for this match having struggled with her form all season. She has compiled a 25-26 record and managed only two victories in six outings on hard court. Before arriving in Queens, Paquet played on clay in Vinaros in the ITF circuit. She was eliminated in the second round by eventual champion Julia Grabher. Paquet, who has lost both encounters against Dart, is ranked 209th in the WTA world ranking.

Harriet Dart has won both encounters with Paquet with the latest being on hard court. This was in Australian Open qualifying in 2019. She will hope for the same outcome as she targets getting out of her current slump. Dart has lost her last four fixtures which has overturned her record as she is currently on a losing run for the season. The Briton has lost more matches, 23, than the 21 she has won. Her form on hard court however will give her renewed hope to win here despite also possessing a losing record on the surface. Dart has won the majority, 10, of her total victories on hard court but has also suffered defeat the most on the surface. In her last match, the 27-year-old was forced to retire from her first-round match at the ITF Spain 29A. This was three weeks ago. Dart has made it to the main draw at the US Open in her last three appearances. She is currently down four places to 144th in the live ranking.
