Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays Prediction & Betting Tips - MLB
by Joseph King | in MLB Predictions
The Toronto Blue Jays will look to make up ground in a competitive AL East when they head to Chicago to take on the White Sox for this fourth of July matchup. The Blue Jays are fourth in baseball’s toughest division while their opponents sit fourth in the AL Central. Toronto will be desperate to bounce back with a win here after dropping their last three games in a row. The Jays were swept by division opponents Boston in their most recent series with the latest game finishing in a 5-4 home loss. Toronto is now only five games above .500 and have slipped to 11 games behind division leading Tampa Bay. The visitors are only two games behind the Yankees for the final Wild Card spot at just around the halfway point in the regular season. Toronto will send out Chris Bassitt to the mound who is 4-4 on the year with a 4.02 ERA. The big righty is coming off a phenomenal performance in his last start, going six shutout innings against the Giants which included 12 strikeouts in a 2-1 win.
The White Sox were able to put an end to a two game losing streak against the lowly Athletics when they won 8-7 in the third and final game of the series. Chicago are 12 games below .500 but the weak AL Central division means that they sit only six games behind the division leading Twins. Chicago have struggled to get wins on the road this season but they have been much more consistent at home. The White Sox have posted a .369 winning percentage on the road but are .500 at home with a 20-20 record. The hosts will start with Lucas Giolito here who is 6-5 on the year with a 3.53 ERA. Giolito struggled in his last start where he gave up four earned runs in seven innings of work including two home runs. However, he had been on a strong run of form prior to that, giving up only four earned runs in his four previous starts.

Our Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays Prediction
We like the pitching matchup for Chicago in this one with Giolito facing off against the inconsistent Bassitt. The Blue Jays starter may be coming off a strong showing in his last appearance but he also has recent games where he has gotten rocked. Meanwhile, the White Sox’s Giolito has looked great on the mound in recent outings and has really been making batters miss as of late with his 19 strikeouts in just 13 innings. We like the home team to carry their momentum into this matchup and extend the Blue Jays’ losing run. Our Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays prediction is for the White Sox to win.
