Chicago Blackhawks vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction & Betting Tips - NHL

The red-hot 20-15-1 Edmonton Oilers roll into Chicago this week to play the struggling 12-26-2 Blackhawks. The Hawks still look a long way short of being a challenger but there have been a few flashes this season which was to be expected with Connor Bedard. One of the most highly anticipated draft picks in the last decade, he has Chicago dreaming of what is to come in the future. Now that he is out with a fractured jaw, it is going to become even more difficult for the Hawks who have an injury list that is getting longer by the day. That includes Seth Jones, Nick Foligno, Andreas Athanasiou, Taylor Hall, Tyler Johnson, Taylor Raddysh and Anthony Beauvillier. They have lost five of those players since December 30 so it was a remarkable performance that saw them beat the Calgary Flames 4-3 in their most recent game. They are only just under .500 at home with an 8-9-1 record so this has been the building that has seen them do their damage and that was the case with the Flames.
The appointment of Kris Knoblauch in Edmonton has been the spark that the Oilers needed, going 17-6 since gaining a new head coach. They have won seven straight games, including five in a row on the road. This is the first game of a three-game road trip for them with stops in Detroit and Montreal after this so fans will be harbouring hopes of a 10-game win streak before they head back to Rogers Place. Connor McDavid has scored points in 19 of his last 20 games, only the New York Islanders were able to shut him down. He recently went past his 900th career point at the age of 26 as he continues to climb the all-time ranks with scary speed. They are as good as any team at present, winning games in New York against the Rangers and Los Angeles against the Kings. This is less of a test and the winning run should continue.
