The Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad will face off in match 46 of the 2024 Indian Premier League at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday. The hosts are fifth in the league standings, while the visitors are third. The Chennai Super Kings come into this match in need of a positive result. They slipped out of the playoff places last week after losing by six wickets and three balls to the Lucknow Super Giants, who leapfrogged them in the standings. RCB posted 206/7, but SRH only managed 171/8 in response, ultimately losing the match by 35 runs. Shahbaz Ahmed scored 40*(37), and Jaydev Unadkat took 3/30 in the defeat. That result brought an end to a four-match winning streak, leaving them level with the Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants on ten points, four behind league leaders the Rajasthan Royals. Travis Head has been the main contributor with the bat this season for the Sunrisers, currently on 325 runs and in fifth place in the leading run-scorer standings. Thangarasu Natarajan leads the team with ball in hand, taking 12 wickets in 24 overs, including a best of 4/19. A win for SRH will put them in a very strong position to secure a playoff berth, but it is never an easy task to come away from Chennai with a win.
