Indian Premier League powerhouses, the Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, will face off in match 25 of the competition at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday afternoon. CSK are in ninth place in the standings, while KKR are sixth after five games each. Let’s get into the match prediction. 

This season’s IPL has already delivered a few unexpected results, but arguably the biggest shock to date has been the start made by the Chennai Super Kings. 

The five-time champions won their opening match against Mumbai, but since then, they have suffered four consecutive defeats, with the most recent coming by 18 runs against the Punjab Kings on Tuesday. 

The only positive for the Men in Yellow has been the performances of Noor Ahmad and Khaleel Ahmed, who are in first and second place, respectively, in the purple cap standings.

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders have not fared much better than CSK over their first five matches, as they suffered their third defeat to date on Tuesday, coming up four runs short against LSG. 

However, the minor positive KKR will take from that defeat is that it was the second match in a row in which they scored 200+ runs, with Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer starting to show some form.

Rahane is now up to fifth place in the orange cap standings with 184 runs in five innings. The defending champs now need their bowling unit to turn up to make up ground on the table.
