Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals Prediction & Betting Tips -
by Devesh Jaganath | in Indian Premier League Predictions
The Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will meet in match 61 of the Indian Premier League at the MA Chidambaram Stadium this Sunday. The hosts are currently in fourth place in the league standings, while the visitors are second. The Chennai Super Kings are leaving it late this season and now will likely have to win their final two games to secure their place in the playoffs. They come into this match following a poor performance that ended in defeat to the Gujarat Titans on Friday afternoon. Batting first, GT set a solid 232 target, with only Tushar Deshpande delivering figures of significance, taking 2/33 in his four over for the men from Chennai. The Titans then knocked over CSK’s top three batsmen for a mere two runs in total. Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali steadied the innings with 63 and 56 runs, respectively, but it was in vain as the Super Kings came up 35 runs short in the end. Three teams are now tied on 12 points after 12 games, making this a must-win for the five-time champs. CSK have lost their last three matches against the Royals but the bookmakers have them down as the favourites for this one.
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals were head-and-shoulders better than the rest in the first half of the group stage, but they have started to cool off recently, which is a concern with the playoffs approaching. They come into this match following back-to-back defeats, first against the Sunrisers by one run before losing to the Delhi Capitals by 20 runs on Tuesday. Chasing down 222, Sanju Samson managed 86 in 46 balls, but aside from him, no other Royals batsman managed to score over 30 runs in the innings. Ravichandran Ashwin finally made an impact in the competition, though, taking 3/24 in his four-over allotment. Still, it’s not yet time for the alarm bells to start blaring for the Royals as the three defeats they’ve conceded in the competition have been by the slenderest of margins, two of which came down to the final ball of the match. We’ll see three of the top run-scorers in the tournament go head-to-head here, two of which belong to the Royals in fifth-placed Sanju Samson and eighth-placed Riyan Parag.

Our Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals Prediction
This is potentially the most important match of the competition up to this point for the Chennai Super Kings, and they have home-ground advantage on their side. CSK’s top order completely collapsed on Friday, and the pressure will be on them for a better performance this time. Ruturaj Gaikwad, in particular, will need a big innings to keep his team’s playoff hopes alive and we fancy the Chennai skipper to rise to the occasion. Our Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals prediction: Ruturaj Gaikwad to score over 28.5.
